THERMOGRAPHY

Thermography is a technique for detecting, measuring, and recording in a picture variations in the heat emitted by various regions of objects including building. It is a “heat diagram” or visible picture using infrared wavelengths. Thermography is a tool used for diagnosing abnormal or decaying underlying conditions of a building.
 

Thermal imaging technology is a tool used to evaluate residential and commercial structures. As a noninvasive testing tool it can quickly help discern where there are suspected issues. This technology can help to limit the areas where intrusive evaluation and forensic investigation is warranted.
 In the picture above the greens shows cooler temperatures (and rotten wood). The picture on the right shows the moisture probes that have penetrated the rotten wood. The repairs to this house were $45,000.
  Thermal Imaging is a valuable tool but it is not xray vision, silver bullet, risk elimination or moisture meter.
X-ray Vision It is not X-ray vision scope. It does not provide the user with an immediate Superman S on their chest with the ability to clearly see inside walls. Instead, it identifies thermal differences.
Silver Bullet The infrared thermal imaging camera is not a silver bullet solution., It is used in forensic investigations can help identify issues of problems with a building structure.
Risk Elimination The infrared thermal imaging camera does not completely remove the risks of concealed damage.
Moisture Meter The infrared thermal imaging camera is not a moisture meter. It simply identifies thermal anomalies that can be equated to moisture problems. It enhances in identifying areas that need further investigation.
